Dear CTA Members,
2020 was a crazy year! We missed being able to gather for CTA leagues, mixers, The City Tournament and our annual meeting.
Here is a brief update on what happened with the CTA and our plan for moving forward:
The 2020 review will be short as we basically put everything on hold. Spring leagues had just started when COVID hit, so with facilities closed, we were forced to cancel the season. Facilities eventually began to reopen on an extremely limited basis, but the CTA was unable to schedule organized play. On a positive note, we did make a financial contribution to Hixson High School for equipment and supplies in support of their tennis team. The CTA is in a strong financial position as we incurred minimal expenses in 2020.
The board voted to apply all 2020 paid membership dues to the 2021 calendar year. Invoices will be sent to all unpaid members and this will be a manual process… please contact Laura at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions about your invoice or payments.
Looking forward, 2021 will be challenging for us – but there are signs that things are improving. Clinics are happening, pros are giving lessons, and many of you are playing with regular groups. Court availability and scheduling are still limited (or nonexistent), but Spring is around the corner and our plans are to attempt to resume some version of league play in March. Our league coordinator has reached out to captains asking for interest and feedback. We are asking for your patience as we attempt to restart our league program and provide opportunities to play tennis.
During our last meeting, the CTA Board decided to postpone The City Tournament until 2022. A lot of planning and scheduling are required to provide a high-quality event and we feel there are too many unknowns at this time. It is our intention to host mixers, play days and events as facilities become more accessible and restrictions are lifted.
We would appreciate your suggestions for events, CTA leagues and programs – please reach out to us at email@example.com with any comments. Looking forward to sunny days and open courts.
