Mid-year Newsletter

2019 Mid-Year Newsletter

Your CTA has been busy, busy, busy this year working hard to provide tennis opportunities for our members and the Chattanooga community. Here are some highlights:

Allyson Wurm hosted our appreciation dinner at El Meson in January with lots of food, drinks and door prizes. We have provided tournament support for several events including the DecoTurf High School Championships and the Tennessee Junior Qualifier. Coming up this fall, we will support the USTA Adult State Mixed Championships and the UTC Men’s 5C tournament at Manker Patten.

Spring and Summer Leagues:

Our new CTA League Coordinator, Renee McClanahan, is doing a fantastic job of keeping our members active on the courts with successful Spring and Summer seasons for men and women. Fall Leagues will begin after Labor Day, so check your e-mail and our website for details. Thank you to our CAPTAINS for all you do!!

CITY Tournament a success again:

Your CTA hosted the third annual CITY Championship at Manker Patten in July. Check out the CITY page on our website for fun photos and results. Look for a “SAVE THE DATE” message soon for 2020. Players of all ages and skill levels wanted to make this the biggest event yet!

Youth Tennis in the Scenic City:

Our NJTL (National Junior Tennis & Learning) Chapter was approved and Amy Gibson is getting the ball rolling with opportunities for our youth. Please contact Amy if you are involved with community organizations that may benefit from tennis programming. The CTA Board recently approved a JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP for students and Amy is organizing play opportunities for the fall. Watch the website and your e-mail for details. CTA also continues to support New City GLAD summer camp. THANK YOU Melinda Ellis for all your efforts in running this fun program.
